Hydraulic turbines are used to drive hydro-generators at small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants; they convert the energy of water flow into mechanical one by rotating the rotor of a generator that produces electricity.
By design of the turbine impeller, axial (rotary-blade pl, propeller pr) and radial-axial Pr are produced. Structurally, the turbines are made with a vertical or horizontal shaft.
The working range of hydraulic turbines: power from 50 to 50,000 kW, head up to 200 m. Power control, shutdown and start of hydraulic turbines is performed by turning the vanes of the guide vane using a servo.
Structurally the water supplying chamber can be: concrete, metal, open, frontal.
Hydraulic turbines have different bearing designs: plain bearings, lubricated by water and rolling with a liquid or grease lubrication system.
Seal stuffing or face, ensuring the sealing of the shaft of the turbine.
The regulation system is coordinated in working order with the customer of the hydraulic unit, the designer of the hydropower station and the suppliers of the main hydropower equipment.
